An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching

Location: Massive Open Online Course

"An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching" is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) developed by the national Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning. Participants will learn about effective teaching strategies and the research that supports them, and they will apply what they learn to the design of lessons and assignments they can use in future teaching opportunities. Those who complete the course will be more informed and confident teachers, equipped for greater success in the undergraduate classroom. This course runs from October 6 to November 23.  Full participation in the course takes approximately eight hours/week.  Registration is free at www.coursera.org/course/stemteaching.

The Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning will host a local learning community for Notre Dame faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars who participate in the MOOC. In the learning community we will share and discuss what we've learned and how we might apply it at Notre Dame. The learning community will meet weekly for 1 hour sessions, scheduled according to participant availability. Light refreshments provided. To register, contact the Kaneb Center at 631-9146 or kaneb@nd.edu.
